I don't think of myself as a technical noob, but I don't really know what else to do in this situation. I think thats all I have tried, but I'm probably leaving things out.

(Even in compatibility mode)ĮDIT: I have now checked to make sure HD Audio is enabled in BIOS, it is.ĮDIT: I have tried to OEM Disc driver, that does not work either.ĮDIT: I have also tried a system restore, still no success. Installing audio driver from ASUS or Realtek also fails.

Nor does uninstalling driver, rebooting, and having windows install from there. Simply disabling and reinabling does not work either. Uninstall or reinstall from the devices manager, it says it is reinstalling Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus, then fails to install as well. If I apply the fix from the troubleshooter, it fails to install the High Definition Audio Device driver. Running Windows troubleshooter says there is a problem with the High Definition Audio Device, and that reinstalling it might fix the problem. Malwarebytes gave me a clean scan, same with Spybot and Security Essentials. Under sound in the control panel, it says: "No audio devices are installed" under the playback tab and recording tab, even after enabling the display of disabled and disconnected devices.
